Inspiring Post

My sister in laws blog post today about her oldest son Trevor, who turns 8 on August 2nd.  Eight years ago she was in the same place I am today... waiting anxiously for her son to arrive.  Although it's not my first, I still LOVED her words and wanted to share...

"Eight years ago....I was waiting patiently (a day overdue) for you to be born. I was waiting patiently to become a mother. All I had then was expectations. Now, here we are at sixty pounds, 7 lost teeth and 50 inches. Here we are at beginning crushes (that you won't admit), brushing your teeth and going to sleepovers by yourself. Here we are at asking when we can sit in the car WITHOUT a car seat. Here we are at almost eight. You are well on your way. Half way to driving, 10 years from leaving home. Ten years doesn't seem like very long. I too am still on my way on this journey of motherhood , full of people and experiences and difficult times that has shaped and changed me, made me learn, and changed my expectations. I look at pictures and can't remember who that person was in the photographs of so long ago.
I have learned so much from you, from your siblings....but I still have a long way to go.Sometimes I have to remind myself that all I'm required to take on is one day at a time.
What I have learned most is that life is too unexpected to try to control or even predict. If you do that you might miss something really good along the way. It's hard...yes, exhausting and aggravating....yes, sad sometimes.....yes. IT is nothing like I expected it to be...... it's way better." -Cindy Parenteau

False Alarm and Pregnancy Update

Last Monday (July 19th), we had a false alarm.  I woke up and was concerned my water had broke. I talked to my midwife and she insisted I go to the hospital and get checked.  I was really resistant because I knew the minute I got on the  labor and delivery floor I would want to stay and have the baby.  As I suspected, my hopes were crused to find out not only had my water NOT broke, I was not dilated or effaced AT ALL!! I was heart broken. Of course they sent me home.  At 38+ weeks I was really hoping something was happening.  Isn't the third child suppose to come early and quick??

SO... yesterday I had my 39 week appt. and we got some better news.  I'm 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced, lets hope this actually means something!! Lily was a 42 week baby and both girls came via inductions... seems I have VERY stubborn children. My due date is August 1st, just five short days away!! However, the hospital has a strict policy about inductions, I can not schedule one until week 41.  So worst case scenario, we'll have the little man here by August 8th.

Just Dance

The girls started a summer dance class that includes tap and ballet at a local dance studio.  They are ABSOLUTELY loving it!   They adore the dresses, shoes and all the fun music.  This eight week summer session is a perfect test run to see if they want to continue this fall.  My guess... YES!

Happy Birthday America!

Posted by Picasa Enjoyed an amazing and jam packed 4th of July! Hit the beach all morning, yummy BBQ and drinks with the McElvain's this afternoon and then fireworks with the Baker's and Sivertsen's this evening.  Hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day.  A special thanks to all the men and women who have served or continue to serve in our Armed Forces!  Your sacrifices are not forgotten and we celebrate you today and every day!
